Returning Superman

Norton December 3, 2006 — You are likely already aware that there is a massive 14-disc, standard DVD Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition boxed set of most, if not all things Superman ($99.98). It includes all four feature films, including both the theatrical cut of Superman II and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, 2006's Superman Returns, and enough additional features and details to keep any Supermaniac busy through 2007.

But be aware: there were errors made in the original release, now in stores. These do not, reportedly, affect playability, only features. The set includes both the theatrical cut of Superman: The Movie and an extended cut released on DVD in 2000. The theatrical cut has a remastered 5.1-channel Dolby Digital soundtrack, but not the Dolby 2.0-channel track from the original theatrical version. In addition, some of the special features that were prepared for the Superman III disc were inadvertently left out.

Corrected boxed sets should be for sale by mid-December. If you already have purchased it, or buy the original release in error, Warner Brothers will send you corrected discs. See details here.
